Ten Facts About the Black Death

1.     Both the dog and cat were killed because the Europeans believed they spread the plague.
2.     Fleas spread the plague.
3.     The fleas came from rats.
4.     Rats traveled by boat.
5.     Over 1 1/2 million people died from the plague.
6.     Flagellants- ripped their skin to rid themselves of sin.
7.     They carried flowers everywhere to get rid of the smell of death.
8.     They believed that if you were bad that you would get the plague and die.
9.     Towns were hit the hardest.

10.  Out breaks of the plague continued for 200 years.
